Announcing Molecular and Digital Medicine: A New Journal Fusing Life Sciences, Engineering, and Digital Innovation
We are proud to announce the launch of Molecular and Digital Medicine, a pioneering, multidisciplinary open-access journal dedicated to publishing high-impact research at the convergence of molecular bioscience, biomedical engineering, and digital health technologies.
This new journal addresses a critical need for a unified platform that bridges the gap between groundbreaking discoveries in the lab and their translation into intelligent, data-driven clinical applications. Molecular and Digital Medicine will provide a forum for the rapid dissemination of peer-reviewed articles that explore how the integration of molecular insights, advanced engineering, and computational power is revolutionizing the future of personalized medicine, diagnostics, and therapeutics.
Scope and Mission:
The journal's scope encompasses the full spectrum of translational research, from fundamental molecular mechanisms to clinical implementation. Key areas of interest include:
Molecular & Nanoscale Medicine: Genomics, biomarkers, nanomedicine, targeted drug delivery, and regenerative medicine.
Digital Health Technologies: AI/ML in healthcare, wearable devices, digital therapeutics, and health informatics.
Converging Technologies: The integration of molecular data with digital platforms, AI-driven analysis of omics data, and the development of "smart" diagnostic and therapeutic systems enabled by biomaterials and engineering.
"Molecular and Digital Medicine will be essential reading for molecular biologists, clinicians, data scientists, biomedical engineers, and all researchers working to create the next generation of precision healthcare solutions," said the Founding Editor-in-Chief. "Our goal is to accelerate innovation by fostering collaboration across these traditionally siloed fields."
Molecular and Digital Medicine is now inviting submissions and applications for Editorial Board positions.

Aims and scope
Molecular and Digital Medicine is a pioneering, multidisciplinary, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research at the dynamic convergence of molecular biology, digital technologies, and biomedical engineering. The journal aims to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research that explores the innovative integration of molecular science with digital health tools and engineering solutions, with the ultimate goal of revolutionizing personalized medicine, diagnostics, and therapeutic interventions.
Our scope encompasses the full spectrum of research at this pivotal intersection. This includes foundational and applied research in Molecular and Nanoscale Medicine, such as molecular diagnostics, biomarkers, omics sciences, precision medicine, nanomedicine, gene editing, and biomaterials. A core focus is also on Digital Health Technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, digital therapeutics, wearable devices, biosensors, and health informatics.
A distinctive priority is the Integration and Convergence of these fields, covering areas like digital biomarkers, AI-driven multi-omics analysis, engineered diagnostic devices, smart theranostic platforms, and digital tools for clinical trials. The journal strongly emphasizes Clinical Applications and Translational Medicine, welcoming work that bridges these discoveries into clinical practice, develops personalized strategies and devices, and addresses the associated ethical, regulatory, and security challenges.
Molecular and Digital Medicine seeks to foster essential collaborations across disciplines, including molecular biology, bioinformatics, clinical medicine, biomedical engineering, and digital health, to catalyse the development of innovative, end-to-end solutions that improve patient care, healthcare delivery, and global health outcomes.
Editorial Board
Article types
Molecular and Digital Medicine publishes a wide range of content, showcasing the latest advancements at the intersection of molecular biology, digital health, biomedical engineering, and nanomedicine:
Article type
Description
Original Research
Substantive reports of novel, data-driven research that presents a significant advance in the field.
Review Articles
Comprehensive, authoritative, and narrative reviews of current literature and trends in a specific area. (Invitation encouraged, but not required)
Systematic Reviews
Rigorous, protocol-driven reviews that identify, evaluate, and synthesize all relevant studies to answer a specific research question.
Brief Communications
Significant, high-impact research that merits rapid communication, often of a preliminary nature.
Clinical Reports
Detailed analyses of a single or small series of unique patient cases that provide novel insights into disease mechanisms, diagnosis, or treatment. This category also includes early clinical reports on the application of novel technologies (e.g., a new biosensor, digital therapeutic, or biomaterial implant). Must include patient consent and ethical approval.
Methodologies
Articles describing new or significantly improved experimental methods, computational tools, software, or engineering protocols relevant to the journal's scope.
Perspectives & Opinions
Articles presenting a personal viewpoint, a speculative hypothesis, or a commentary on future directions in the field.
Correspondence
Short letters commenting on a recent article published in the journal, fostering scientific discussion.
Commentary
Focused perspectives on emerging topics, methodologic advances, or key findings in molecular and digital medicine (not limited to commenting on published articles).
Meeting Reports
Summaries of key findings, trends, and discussions from major scientific conferences and symposia.
News & Views
Concise updates on recent breakthroughs, regulatory news, major funding initiatives, or significant events.
Data Notes
Short descriptions of scientifically valuable datasets deposited in public repositories, enhancing data reuse and discovery.
Editorial
Editorials are authoritative, editorially curated articles offering expert perspectives on timely, relevant topics in molecular and digital medicine. They may address emerging trends, key advancements, or impactful developments in the field, or introduce thematic issues/landmark content. Balanced, concise, and grounded in current evidence, editorials should provide actionable insights for clinical practice, research, or translation.
Letter
Letters are concise, timely communications that provide critical commentary on recently published articles in the journal, present novel preliminary findings, or offer insights on emerging issues in clinical practice, health research, or medical policy.
Consensus and Guideline
Consensuses and Guidelinesare official recommendations from professional organizations on issues related to clinical practice and health care delivery. CD is flexible with length, reference, and other format requirements given the variability in the format of guidelines developed by different organizations. A concise table or concise graphic summarizing the recommendations and other key points is desirable. Guidelines that meet standards (http://www.equator-network.org/) will fare more favorably than those that do not.
Guideline Snapshot
Guideline Snapshots are concise, accessible summaries of existing, high-quality clinical or research guidelines. They distill core recommendations, key applicable scenarios, and critical evidence highlights from full guidelines (e.g., those meeting EQUATOR Network standards or issued by authoritative professional organizations) without replicating detailed methodological processes or extensive discussions.
Detailed Article Types
Molecular and Digital Medicine welcomes the following types of submissions. All manuscripts must adhere to the highest standards of ethical and scientific rigor and will undergo rigorous peer review.
1. Original Research
Description: Full-length, substantial reports of original basic, translational, clinical, or engineering research that presents a significant advance in the field. The work should be hypothesis-driven and provide novel insights, data, or methodologies.
Abstract: Structured to include the elements of Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, but without subheadings. No more than 250 words.
Main Text: Typically 3,000-5,000 words (excluding references and figure legends). Should follow the standard IMRaD structure: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion.
References: No specific limit, but should be relevant and appropriate.
Figures/Tables: Typically 4-8 items in total.
2. Review Articles
Description: Comprehensive, authoritative, and narrative surveys of a specific topic within the journal's scope. They should provide critical analysis, synthesize existing literature, and discuss future directions, rather than simply summarizing publications. Authors are strongly encouraged to contact the Editors prior to submission to propose a topic.
